WHAT IS A DIGITAL FOOT SCAN?

A digital foot scanner is a 3D foot scan machine with Innovation 3-Arch Support that helps evaluate your feet and postural health. It captures essential information about the 3 arches of your feet, pronation, pressure points, sizing, and even gait analysis.

After your feet are scanned, the machine creates a digital image of your feet that shows your weight distribution on each foot and indicates any imbalances or weaknesses in your feet. In the vast majority of cases, you will observe bilateral and asymmetrical foot pronation when the patient is weight-bearing.

Foot scanners provide detailed images of the feet; these devices provide full views of the foot imbalances that may be imperceptible to the naked eye are revealed.

A digital foot scanner is a great tool used by chiropractors to help diagnose and resolve feet and back problems that can have severe repercussions throughout our life if not treated.

Abnormal lower-extremity biomechanics represent a primary source of structural weakness that promotes chronic forms of pain and is one of the most common problems chiropractors see in their practice.

A foot scan can quickly add insight as to what’s causing your pain. Images on the screen can compare the patient’s foot to an ideal version, revealing the level of arch deterioration, if any. The device will generate a comprehensive report on the patient’s foot health for further consideration.

WHAT ARE THE MOST COMMON FINDINGS AFTER HAVING A DIGITAL FOOT SCAN?

Nearly 80 percent of the population overpronates during walking and running; that’s more than three out of four adults. Excessive overpronation has been linked to low-back pain, hip pain, knee pain, Patellar dysfunction, Plantar fasciitis, Hallux valgus (bunions), Achilles tendinitis, Corns, calluses, and hammertoes, Navicular apophysitis, Shin splints, Fractures in the first and second toes and Ankle sprains among other conditions are commonly seen in the chiropractic practice.

Abnormal lower-extremity biomechanics represent a primary source of structural weakness that promotes chronic forms of back pain, among many other conditions commonly seen in the chiropractic office.

WHY IS IT SO IMPORTANT TO HAVE THE FEET SCANNED?

Any structural imbalance of the body will result in compensating movements in the lower extremities and pelvis, whether anatomical leg-length inequality or pes planus, to minimize stress to the spinal column. Over time, imbalances in the muscles will develop, eventually leading to damage of the soft tissues and bones from years of repeated microtrauma.

With each step, degenerative changes in the joints are a concern, and secondarily the effects on connective tissues weakness in the feet may worsen. The ligaments of the feet, especially the plantar fascia, will practically deform, a permanent change in shape.

Clinical experience shows that foot, knee, hip, and spinal adjustments hold longer and better when the feet are stabilized. But with a compromised gait, ripple effects are felt throughout human movement.
